By Lucimar Luciano de Oliveira
Translated into English by Antonio M. Sepulveda
Whence do you come, oh silvery whale,
that you follow in my murky wake?
Whence do you come, so shifty, so fleeting,
that out of the blue you spring up
on my unforeseen horizon?
Whence do you come, so frisky and lively, that you gush out your suave splash
like a fountain under the sun?
Whence do you come, oh silvery whale?
You that attend regularly the ecological appeal,
the political design?
Yes, you, the quarry that was made the apocalyptic sign of the inescapable entropy of the universe?
Whence do you come, oh cherished silvery whale,
with your oblong contour that sutures
the rugged, molten face of the sea?
Innocent presence of life
that rises alone from the millennia,
and emerges, inebriated, from the abyss,
miraculously preserved,
and cheerfully hailing my ship?
Pela citação,
Lucimar.
